Used-Car Out-the-Door Price Calculator
Add the selling price, fees and tax under your own assumptions. You can leave tax unknown and still see the known subtotal. The down payment changes the remaining balance, not the purchase total.
Calculations stay in this page. No account, email or payment required. Enter USD amounts without commas, up to $1,000,000 per field. Blank optional fees and down payment count as zero.
Formula and assumptions
Taxable base = selling price + taxable fees. Estimated tax = taxable base × your tax percentage, rounded half-up to the nearest cent. Out-the-door total = selling price + all fees + estimated tax. Remaining balance = total − down payment.
Worked example
Fictional example: $20,000 selling price, $300 taxable fees, $200 non-taxable fees and an assumed 6% tax rate give $1,218 tax and a $21,718 purchase total. A $2,000 down payment leaves $19,718. The 6% is an illustration, not a rate for your location.
What the result cannot tell you
You supply the tax rate and decide which fees are taxable. This tool assumes the selling price is taxable and does not handle trade-ins, credits, rebates, tax caps, special assessments or multiple tax bases. Unknown tax produces no complete total. Verify an itemized seller quote and local rules. The remaining balance is not a loan quote or an amount necessarily due today; interest and ownership costs are separate.
